Care and set-up : so that your instrument is easy to play, to tune, etc... and stays in perfect condition over time, structurally and aesthetically.

Sound adjustment : to help your instrument to sound to the best of its potential. we work on the response, the tone, color, etc... to bring you more joy playing. Sound adjustment is done with you, taking in account your whishes, needs and musical style.

Repair and restoration : following an accident, or to bring an old instrument back to shape, preserve its sentimental and/or monetary value, and put it back in the hands of a musicians. In the event of an accident, I can also work with your insurance company that may cover the costs.

Advise for buying / selling : should you want to acquire or sell an instrument, I can guide you so that you make the right choices. Every now and then, the workshop also offers instruments for sale.

Double bass

The double bass is a little bit different from other stringed instruments. Taking care of them requires specific knowledge and understanding. In the last few years, I was lucky enough to collaborate with fellow restorers, specialists in double basses, and to discover a new and fascinating part of our craft.

I thus specialized in the care of this oversized but very likeable instrument.

I learnt to set them up precisely, to offer you more comfort playing, and to bring each of those basses to sound to the best of their potential, taking your musical style and the tone characteristics specific to your instrument into account.

I also carried on a lot of extensive restoration projects on delicate double basses, following accidents or on old and instruments to preserve them and get them back to life. You can see some of these projects in my portfolio.
