The back of a beautiful double bass by John Lott senior, that went through the workshop for a full restoration
La voûte de la table s'était effondrée au niveau de la barre d'harmonie. Par ailleurs, la table était très fine à l'origine, 3-4 mm seulement, tandis que les réparations précédentes avaient été laissées très épaisses, plus d'un centimètre pour la doublure de poitrine (entre les FF). L'un dans l'autre, l'instrument ne sonnait pas aussi bien qu'il aurait dû.
Travail fini, un musicien qui souriait en partant, et un instrument à part, au son puissant, d’un grain chaud, rond mais très précis. Projet en sous-traitance pour Jeroen Bruynooghe, qui a fait l'enture, le réenclavement et le montage. Un immense merci à lui et au propriétaire de ce bel instrument pour leur confiance.

Edges replacement on a double bass top
French double bass, Maison Darche,
19th Century
Ce violon autrichien, daté du 18eme, présentait une vieille fracture tout le long du fond. on voit sur les premières photos l'ancienne restauration, maladroite, qui n'a pas tenu à l'épreuve du temps : la fracture s'est réouverte.
